The Volo Press Grand Opening Novel Contest

This novel contest takes place at the beginning of each year. Authors with self-published or commercially published books submit a Word document or PDF containing only two things: their ISBN and the first 2,000 words (or less) of their novel. The goal is to show the judges you can engage a reader right at the start of your story. All genres all accepted for the Grand Opening Novel contest. Visit the contest terms and conditions for more details.

The Volo Press Pocket Poetry Contest

This poetry contest takes place during the second quarter of each year. Anyone who wants to submit a poem of 30 words or less is welcome to do so. Submissions should be in .doc, .docx, or .pdf formats and contain only the poem title and the poem itself. Your poem can be published in an anthology, part of a collection you published on your own, or something you made up specifically for this poetry contest! The goal is to show the judges that you can express something powerful in just a handful of words. All kinds of poetry are accepted for the Pocket Poetry contest. Visit the contest terms and conditions for more details.

The Volo Press Short Story Contest

This short story contest takes place during the third quarter of each year. Anyone who wants to can submit a short story of between 3,000 and 5,000 words. The submission should be uploaded as a Word document or PDF containing only the title of the story and the story itself. Your story can be published in an anthology, part of a collection you published on your own, or something you made up specifically for this short story contest! The goal is to show the judges that you can write a strong story in those few thousand words. All genres of short stories are accepted for the Short Story contest. Visit the contest terms and conditions for more details.

The Volo Press Percipient Prose Contest

This non-fiction writing contest takes place during the last quarter of each year. Any writer who wants to can submit an article of up to 5,000 words (.doc, .docx, or .pdf) that explains a particular concept or skills. Your article could have been published in a magazine, post on a blog, included in a chapter of a book about the subject, or something you made up for this particular contest. The goal is to teach the judges something in a clear and concise way. All kinds of articles will be accepted (cooking, physics, gardening, mathematics, yoga, philosophy, psychology, etc.) for the Percipient Prose contest. Visit the contest terms and conditions for more details.
